Lucy the Elephant is America's oldest roadside attraction. It's a giant, 66 foot, 90 ton statue of an elephant located on the New Jersey shore near Atlantic City. Lucy was built in 1881 and has been a tourist attraction for many years. Recently, Lucy was almost condemned in favor of building beach side condos. Luckily, a major grassroots fund raising effort has kept Lucy alive and has made it a National Landmark. This story tells about the life of Lucy the Elephant, as we go inside and meet the curators, the visitors, and tell Lucy's story.
At major New York colleges and universities like Cornell & Syracuse University, roughly 25% of students join fraternities and sororities in hopes of being accepted and climbing the ranks of social life at college. But how far will students go just to get in? This story reveals true, real-life stories of students who have been verbally abused, physically punished, and humiliated when pledging for a fraternity or sorority.
